Supporting Emergency Call for Action on Supply Chain Disruptions
The Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization, herewith would like to share the “Resolution of the Goods Transport Council of IRU on Emergency Call – Supply Chain Disruptions” that portrays the worsening situation in road transport after the challenging times caused by drastic effects of COVID-19 and emergency calling for immediate actions by the governments to mitigate the consequences.

The Resolution, calls upon the governments to take action on digitizing road transport through implementation of the UN-CMR Convention and the eCMR Protocol, the UN-TIR Convention and eTIR), abandoning misguided COVID-19 restrictions, fighting chronic driver shortages, facilitation of visa processes and attracting female truck drivers, leveling out soaring fuel prices.

The Secretariat aligning itself with the concerns raised through the said resolution has the further honour to suggest the Member States to consider the said Resolution and implement its proposed schemes to address the ongoing crisis.
