A group of Japanese university students visited ECO on February 28. Organized jointly by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the School of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Iran, the visit aimed at familiarizing the exchange students with ECO.

The 273rd Meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) was held on February 27, at the ECO Headquarters.

A relief assistance package dispatched by Pakistan in 21 containers for the quake-affected regions of Türkiye was transported through ECO ITI Corridor under TIR system on February 24, 2023, passing through the territories of Iran.

An ECO delegation headed by the Secretary General, Amb. Khusrav NOZIRI attended the 13th Governing Board Meeting of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) under the auspices of UNESCO on February 23, 2023, in Tehran. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

An ECO Secretariat Delegation headed by Dr. Husnu Tekin, Director for HRSD and Energy, Minerals & Environment, attended the 41st National Geosciences Rock Congress as well as Mineral Exhibition organized by Geological Survey of Iran. Dr. Alireza Shahidi, Director General of the Geological Survey of Iran as well as Mr. Reza Zadeh, Deputy for Planning, Resources Development and Support of the Geological Survey of Iran and Mr. Ahmad Gharaee, Director of Directorate of the Geological Survey of Iran were present in the opening ceremony of the event.

An ECO delegation headed by Director for Human Resources and Sustainable Development (HRSD), Mr. Husnu Tekin attended the First Disaster Management Conference titled: “Strong Iran” on February 14, 2023.

Chairing the meeting, the Honourable Minister emphasized the importance of scientific research and technological innovation for economic growth and trade development, considering the present trade volume of the region below its size and population. Citing the overall achievements of the ECO, he stressed that more proactive measures were required by the Organization and its Specialized Agencies, especially the ECO Science Foundation, to ensure strong scientific and technological collaboration amongst the member countries

While visiting Isfahan to attend the Meeting of the Board of Trustees of ECO Science Foundation, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met with the Representatives of Isfahan Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on February 13, 2023.

An ECO Delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Jandos Asanov attended the opening ceremony of the 16th Tehran International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition at Tehran International Permanent Fairground. The occasion was also graced by Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Mr. Ezzatollah Zarghami. Other participants included the heads and members of diplomatic corps as well as some foreign and local guests.

The Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) lowered its flag to half-mast to honour the victims of the devastating earthquakes that hit the south-eastern region of the Republic of Türkiye on February 6, 2023.
