The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri called on the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The two sides during their interaction on October 21, 2021 touched upon certain areas of ECO engagements and activities, including the progress and achievements of the Organization in the recent years.

On the invitation of the Chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building measures in Asia (CICA) Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Amb. Khusrav Noziri attended the Sixth Meeting of the CICA Ministers of Foreign Affairs held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan on October 11-12, 2021.

The 3rd Meeting of ECO Geomatics Committee, hosted by the National Cartographic Center (NCC) of Islamic Republic of Iran was held virtually on 18 October 2021 in Tehran. The delegates from Azerbaijan, Iran (host), Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as ECO Secretariat delegation attended the Meeting.

ECO Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Seyed Yahya Akhlaqi participated in the opening ceremony of “Regional Dialogues Workshop on Sustainable Food Systems towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030” on 18 October 2021.

The long awaited ECO-ITI (Islamabad-Tehran- Istanbul) Road Corridor finally came into existence with the arrival of two loaded trucks from Karachi to Istanbul on 7th October 2021. The convoy of the two trucks travelled the distance of 5300 Km transiting through the Islamic Republic of Iran and entered the Istanbul Customs on 07 October 2021.

ECO Deputy Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Seyed Yahya Akhlaghi participated in the Fifth North and Central Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals held virtually on October 7, 2021.

The ECO Secretary General, His Excellency Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Tehran, His Excellency Prof. Derya Ors on October 4, 2021.

On 28 September 2021 the First Meeting of the ECO Working Group on Information & Communication Technologies was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in cooperation with ECO Secretariat in virtual format.

ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Dr. Huseyin Avni Bicakli and Director of Energy, Minerals and Environment Mr.Rovshan Mirzayev paid a tribute to the commemoration event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on September 27, 2021.

The Secretary General of the ECO, H.E. Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, has said that fostering economic cooperation among its Member States is an integral part of ECO’s agenda for sustainable development. The ECO Secretary General, during a dialogue with the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), highlighted some of the shared goals of ECO Vision 2025 and UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
