The Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) expresses deep condolences over the loss of precious human lives during the devastating earthquakes on February 6, in the south-eastern region of the Republic of Türkiye that also left many people injured and caused severe damage and destruction in various cities.

The Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) organized a meeting to deliberate on the process for operationalization of the ECO Reinsurance Company (ERC) on February 6, 2023. The event, held in hybrid mode, was attended by delegates of the ERC’s Contracting Parties, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Türkiye. The Representative of the ECO Trade and Development Bank (ECO-TDB) also participated in the meeting.

Issues related to holding joint events were discussed at the online meeting held on February 6, 2023 between ECO Deputy Secretary General Amb. Jandos Asanov and Dr Atilla Karaman, Director, Statistics and Information Department Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).

A delegation of the Chinese Embassy in Tehran, comprising senior diplomats, visited the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization on February 1, 2023. The delegation was received by ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) expresses deep condolences over the tragic incident occurred at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran claiming the precious life of a diplomatic official as well as injuring two other staff members of the Embassy.
