ECO Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri addressed the 36th FAO Ministerial Meeting of the Near East Regional Conference (NERC-36) virtually. FAO Ministerial Meeting is a two days Meeting of 7-8 February 2022 being held in hybrid mode in Baghdad, Iraq.

The 261st Meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) held on February 7, 2022 under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The 11th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Transport was virtually held under chairmanship of the Republic of Turkey on 2 February 2022 under the theme of “Facilitation of Transit for Post Pandemic”. The Ministerial Meeting was preceded by the High-Level Expert Group Meeting which was held virtually on 31 January 2022. The esteemed Ministers and heads of delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as the representatives from UNECE, IsDB, IRU, ADB, OTIF, OSJD and ECO-TDB attended the meeting.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator to the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Stefan Priesner, accompanied by Ms. Christina Hajdu, Head of Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) and Mr. Mohammad Ali Farzin, Chief Economist of UN-RCO in Iran visited the ECO Secretariat on January 31, 2022. At the very outset, Amb. Khusrav Noziri, the ECO Secretary General, welcomed the UN Resident Coordinator at the ECO Secretariat.

A High-Level Experts Group Meeting held virtually on January 31, 2022 to discuss and finalize overall issues according to the Agenda of the
11th Ministerial Meeting on Transport, including the Draft Declaration on cooperation in Transport and Connectivity in the region, as well as finalized the draft report of the
11th ECO Ministerial Meeting on Transport. The meeting hosted by the Republic of Turkey, was attended by the Representatives from the nine ECO Member States, International Organizations, International Banks and the relevant officials of the ECO Secretariat.

The 32nd Meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) was held on January 17-26, 2022 in hybrid format. The Representatives of the ECO Member States, ECO Regional Institutes, Specialized Agencies, Affiliated Bodies as well as ECO Observers participated in the event.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Dmitry Koltsov, paid a visit to the ECO Secretariat on January 13, 2022.

The ECO Secretary General Mr. Khusrav Noziri received, in his office, the Head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Liaison Office in Tehran, Mr. Hideo Ikeba, on January 12, 2022. The meeting was aimed at discussing the prevailing humanitarian conditions in Afghanistan.

On the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Ambassador Mr. Khusrav Noziri participated in Conference on “Current State and Prospects of Development of Tajik-Iranian Relations”, dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, held on January 10, 2022.

A delegation of the ECO Secretariat, headed by the ECO Secretary General Amb. Khusrav Noziri, visited Pardis Technology Park on 5th January 2022, on the invitation of the President of the Park Mr. Mahdi Safarinia. The delegation comprised Mr. Mohsen Esperi, the Deputy Secretary General and Mr. Zahid Hussain Abbasi, the ECO Director for Trade and Investment.
