The Second Summit Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) was held in Istanbul on 6-7 July, 1993. The Meeting was attended by H.E. Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani, President of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, H.E. Mr. Resul Guliev, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbaev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Askar Akaev, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmanov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, Head of State, H.E. Mr. Suleyman Demirel, President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Saparmurad Niyazov, President of Turkmenistan and H.E. Mr. Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Mr. Hamid Al-Gabid, Secretary General of OIC, H.E. Dr. Ahmad Muhamed Ali, President of IDB and H.E. Mr. Rafeeuddin Ahmed, Executive Secretary, ESCAP as guests. H.E. Mr. Shamshad Ahmad, Secretary General, ECO, also participated in the Meeting.
