ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Huseyin Avni Bicakli partook in the International Conference of Ministers of Culture and State Flag and Constitution Day ceremonies, held on May 17 and May 18, 2024 respectively.
The conference was dedicated to the 300th birth anniversary of the renowned Turkmen poet and philosopher, Magtymgully Fragi. The event brought together over 22 countries and organizations, including delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Iran, Qatar, China, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Türkiye, and Japan.
Ambassador Bicakli delivered a statement at the opening session of the ceremony, highlighting the significance of cultural exchange and cooperation among nations. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage, such as the literary contributions of Magtymgully Fragi, which have had a profound impact on the region’s cultural identity.
In addition, Ambassador Bicakli moderated a panel discussion titled “Literary Contributions of Magtymgully Fragi,” which featured esteemed scholars and experts from participating countries. The discussion explored the poet’s life, works, and legacy, as well as the cultural and historical context in which he wrote.
The conference provided a platform for ministers, scholars, and cultural experts to share their perspectives and experiences, fostering greater understanding and cooperation among nations. The event also featured cultural performances, exhibitions, and visit to newly-constructed city of Arkadag, celebrating the rich Turkmen cultural heritage.
