On the sidelines of his participation in the 27th Session of Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) at Sharm el-Sheikh, the ECO Secretary General, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri was interviewed by the Egyptian Akhbar Misr TV Channel.

In the interview, the Secretary General elaborated the importance of ECO as a regional organization of ten developing countries in Asia and its cooperative agenda in which, addressing environment and climate related issues is of great significance.

Mr. Noziri underlined that we cannot turn a blind eye to this sad fact that some regions especially in the global south including parts of the ECO region, are highly vulnerable to the harshest effects of climate change, whereas these regions have had the least historical responsibility in creating such circumstances.

The ECO Secretary General underscored in such a context that more action is needed to ensure the developing countries have effective strategies in place and the adequate global assistance required in order to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
