On May 30,2023, the ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri made a courtesy call on Deputy Minister and President of Customs Authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Rezvanifar.
During the interaction, the two sides reviewed ECO’s planned activities to be carried out in collaboration with the Iranian side. The need for increasing inter-regional and international trade of ECO was highlighted and both sides agreed to further continue consultation on implementation of ECOTA for enhancing regional trade. Other agenda items that were considered in the meeting included; cooperation on Electronic Data Exchange among Customs, harmonization of Customs procedures, implementation of eTIR, participation at TIRExB, enhancement of capacity of the border crossing points for facilitation of transit, relocation Customs formalities, and establishment of TIR Consultative Group.
The President of the Customs Authority of Islamic Republic of Iran, while commending the ongoing cooperation between the two sides, expressed his full support to implementation of the decisions and plans within ECO framework and requested continuous consultations and regular meetings with the ECO Secretariat.
