On February 28, 2022, by the initiative of Directorate for Energy, Minerals and Environment (EME) of the ECO Secretariat, the virtual meeting was held between EME team comprised of Director Mr.Rovshan Mirzayev and Program Officer Mojtaba Faraji with Mr. Gaurav Monga, Partner Engagement Officer for Resource Mobilization and Partnerships of the Secretariat of United Nation Convention for Climate Change (UNFCC).

On February 28, 2022, by the initiative of Directorate for Energy, Minerals and Environment (EME) of the ECO Secretariat, the virtual meeting was held between EME team comprised of Director Mr.Rovshan Mirzayev and Program Officer Mojtaba Faraji with Mr. Gaurav Monga, Partner Engagement Officer for Resource Mobilization and Partnerships of the Secretariat of United Nation Convention for Climate Change (UNFCC).
The meeting aimed at reviewing the fields of possible cooperation on environment toward a win-win partnership between ECO and UNFCC. Mr. Rovshan Mirzayev briefed the meeting about environmental portfolio of the ECO region. He revealed various projects and program of ECO Secretariat that contributed to environmental issues and announced the ECO readiness for a durable, tangible and fruitful cooperation with UNFCC.
Mr. Gaurav Monga expressed his satisfaction for enhancing cooperation between UNFCC and ECO on environmental issues especially in the fields of climate change. He then briefed the meeting about the UNFCC’s role and position for supporting the global response to the threat of climate change. He explained about the tasks of UNFCC Secretariat, which is focusing on facilitating the intergovernmental climate change negotiations, while supports a complex architecture of bodies that serve to advance the implementation of the Convention, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement.
At the end of the meeting, which was held virtually, the two sides welcomed the expansion of ties s between the two secretariats and stressed the need for continued contacts and communication to achieve a framework for cooperation in the field of environment and climate change.
