ECO delegation headed by Mr. Gurkan Polat, Director of Agriculture and Industry visited the Veterinary Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on November 6, 2023.
During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Mojtaba Nowrozi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Head of Iran Veterinary Organization briefed the ECO delegation about the role and activities of the Veterinary Organization, while also stressing upon the need for continuing cooperation in order to achieve the objectives of the ECO Veterinary Commission (ECO-VECO) and rendering full support and patronage to ECO-VECO.
Mr. Gürkan Polat, while thanking H.E. Nowrizi for their continuous support and recalling the previous bilateral activities between ECO and Iran Veterinary Organization as the coordinator of ECO-VECO, reiterated the desire for further cooperation, particularly acceleration on the implementation of the Work Plan of ECO-VECO, for paving the way in respect to improve and acquire food security in the ECO region. Recalling that the Islamic Republic of Iran will assume ECO Chairmanship for 2024, and also that the 8th Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture will be held in Tehran, Mr. Polat noted that great opportunities lie ahead to increase cooperation in the field of veterinary services.
Both parties have agreed to strengthen their collaboration through joint meetings and programs based on mutual interests.
