The first-ever Brainstorming Meeting at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the ECO Member States aiming at reforms in the ECO will open on May 23, 2022 at the ECO Secretariat Tehran. The first day of the Meeting will cover three sessions comprising an inaugural session and two working sessions.
It is pertinent to mention that considering the significance of reform as an ongoing process, the 32nd Meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) held in January 2022 has recommended to organize a this Brainstorming Meeting at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers to initiate the next phase of the reform process. The Meeting will provide an opportunity to the Deputy Ministers of the region to consider the impediments thwarting implementation of agreements on two inter-related and major priorities of ECO as reflected in Treaty of Izmir and ECO Vision 2025, namely trade and transit-transport. The Meeting will be concluded on May 24, 2022 where participants of the Meeting will provide comprehensive recommendations on the prospects of cooperation in the ECO region.
