The Economic Cooperation Organization is set to establish an Advisory Committee on Tourism in an effort to enhance collaboration and promote tourism within the region based on the proposal of H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Honorable President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A meeting was held for the establishment of this committee in Shakhrisabz, Uzbekistan on April 26, 2024 on the sidelines of Shahrisabz ECO Tourism Capital 2024 inauguration ceremony.
Aiming at laying the groundwork for effective collaboration in advancing tourism initiatives, the meeting deliberated on the objectives, structure and modality of the ECO Advisory Committee on Tourism. Establishment of the Committee is expected to be further delibareted by the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives building on the outcomes of this meeting.
The establishment of the Advisory Committee on Tourism will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable tourism practices, enhancing cultural exchange, and boosting economic growth through tourism.
