The international forum “Dialogue – A Guarantee of Peace”, dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 28th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, was held on December 11, 2023, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Huseyin Avni Bicakli attended the Forum on behalf of the ECO Secretariat. The Forum was also attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the heads of Turkmen diplomatic missions abroad, heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, leading representatives of international organizations, and representatives of public organizations.
Emphasizing Turkmenistan’s contribution to solving global problems, dignitaries of international organizations, associations and foreign ministries presented their vision of the positive role of independent, neutral Turkmenistan in strengthening international relations, in their speeches.
The Forum continued in four thematic sessions. The ECO Deputy Secretary General shared his key perspectives on environmental threats in the region and offered a road-map for adapting to and mitigating the detrimental effects of climate change in the thematic session “International Cooperation: Diplomatic Dialogue on Global Environmental Cooperation”.
The ECO Deputy Secretary General commended Turkmenistan for upholding the tradition of regularly convening the neutrality conference, targeting multidisciplinary perspectives of peace, which is inevitably and invariably essential for sustainable progress and shared prosperity of humanity. He also acknowledged Turkmenistan for its active role and significant contributions in ECO.
On the second day of the event, the ECO Deputy Secretary General attended the flower laying ceremony held in front of the Neutrality Monument under the leadership of H.E. Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the President of Turkmenistan. Mr. Bicakli also interacted with cabinet members of Turkmenistan government and high-level representatives of various regional and international organizations on the sidelines of the event.
