The preparatory virtual meeting prior to the holding of 1st Meeting of the Heads of the National Development and Wealth Fund of the ECO Member States was held on November 23, 2020. The meeting inter-alia discussed the ways and means of holding the 1st Meeting of the Heads of the National Development and Wealth Fund of ECO Member States. High-level Representatives from Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Turkey also attended the meeting.
The meeting, inter-alia, discussed the ways and means to organize the 1st Meeting of the Heads of National Development Funds of the ECO Member States. Noting the importance of NDWFs , Dr. Akhlaqi underlined the increased relevance of the fund for the international financial system, adding that these funds may be designed to develop a broader base for economic development in the ECO Region.
While sharing their views on the proposed 1st Meeting of NDWF, the Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Alireza Saedi has introduced the NDFI proposals about potential areas of cooperation among the wealth funds of the ECO Member States. Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Turkey welcomed the proposal and raised their views. It was considered that the planned meeting would open the way for further cooperation among the Member Countries for new projects, investment opportunities and regional development in the region.
