The Specialized Committee Meetings of the ECO-Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO-CCI), namely, Trade Facilitation, Industry and Investment, Transportation, Tourism, Women Entrepreneurs Council (WEC) and Arbitration were held on 15-16 November 2017 hosted by the Unions of the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).

The Specialized Committee Meetings of the ECO-Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO-CCI), namely, Trade Facilitation, Industry and Investment, Transportation, Tourism, Women Entrepreneurs Council (WEC) and Arbitration were held on 15-16 November 2017 hosted by the Unions of the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). Mr. Muhammad Safdar, Research Officer from the Trade & Investment Directorate of the ECO Secretariat represented the ECO in these meetings. Mr. Maher Alam Khan, Secretary General of ECO-CCI conducted all the meetings. Two workshops were also held as part of Tourism and WEC Committee Meetings.

The delegations from the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Turkey (the host) attended the following meetings:

During the meetings, the representative of the ECO Secretariat briefed the delegations about the “ECO Vision 2025”. The ECO Secretariat also informed the meetings about the progress made during the ECO meetings held since the 27th Meeting of Regional Planning Council (RPC) in December 2016. The ECO Secretariat also provided the meetings with the updates on various ECO agreements and further developments in this regard. The ECO Secretariat appreciated the efforts of the ECO-CCI, and requested to be kept apprised of the progress on various issues, for better coordination.

The participants reviewed progress since the last meetings held in March 2017. Various issues related to investment and joint industrial production through joint ventures were discussed. It was decided to explore the proposal to form a “Trade Facilitation Desk” in ECO Member States for review and implementation of trade-related decisions.

It was also agreed to further examine the proposal of establishment of the “ECO Arbitration Centre” and the “Business Rating Program” (BRP) in detail from all aspects. The progress made in the ECO Member States for promotion of the women entrepreneurs was also discussed. It was also informed that the theme for the 2nd Confobition on Health Tourism to be held in Iran in 2018 will now include Tourism, Health Tourism, Confobition and Halal Conference.

The draft Report of the meetings was presented to the Executive Committee of the ECO-CCI for adoption.
