On July 20, 2020, a consultative meeting was held at the ECO Secretariat to discuss the ways and means for early operationalization of ECO Regional Institute for Standardization, Conformity Assessment, Accreditation and Metrology (RISCAM).

On July 20, 2020, a consultative meeting was held at the ECO Secretariat to discuss the ways and means for early operationalization of ECO Regional Institute for Standardization, Conformity Assessment, Accreditation and Metrology (RISCAM). The Director General for the Bureau of Comparative Studies & Participation in International Standards Development and Expert of International and Regional Standardization Group (RISCAM), as well as the concerned ECO Deputies Secretary General attended the meeting.

The meeting viewed the relevant aspects within the scope of the RISCAM including the ECO projects for organic products, slaughter houses and reference laboratories in the Member States, as well as updating the roadmap for full functioning of the RISCAM. Considering the situation foisted by COVID-19 pandemic, the possibility to virtually hold the 7th Meeting of High Level Working Group on Standardization, Conformity Assessment, Accreditation and Metrology was also explored. The 7th HLWG is mandated, inter alia, to evaluate the mechanics for quick implementation on the RISCAM’s roadmap.

The ECO Vision 2025 mandated the ECO-RISCAM to work for developing industrial standards and encouraging of green industries
