The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri and the Permanent Representatives of the ECO Member States reviewed the ongoing activities of the Organization, as well as its interaction with the international organizations, during the dinner reception hosted by the  Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN on 21 February, 2024 in Geneva. 

In his opening remarks, ECO Secretary General briefed the meeting on the theme of the current year as the “Year of Enhanced and Resilient ECO Region through Expansion of Intra-Regional Trade”, proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran as the current Chair of the Organization. Ambassador Noziri further stated that ECO is steadily moving towards realization of the ECO Vision 2025, as well as the mandates of the leaders of the Member States, taking into account the ever-increasing challenges. He also requested the Permanent Representatives to prioritize and promote regional interests in the international organizations and frequently convene such meetings to discuss topics of relevance to the ECO Region and in particular the transport and communication subjects.  

The Secretary General, also elaborated on his participation in the 86th ITC session at the UNECE and the role that the ECO is expected to play in decarbonization of inland transport and enhancement of East-West and North-South connectivity in the international supply chains.
