The First meeting of the Sub-Working Group for Commercialization of the KTI Corridor was organized by the ECO Secretariat virtually on October 12, 2022.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the railway authorities from the KTI en-route countries (the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran) and representative of the UNESCAP. The delegation of the ECO Secretariat was headed by the Director of Transport and Communications Mr. Akbar Khodaei.
The Sub-Working Group was established as per the decision of the First Meeting of the Permanent Working Group on KTI Railway Corridor (25 December, 2021) with the participation of public and private sectors including freight forwarders and other relevant stakeholders.
While inaugurating the meeting, Mr. Akbar Khodaei, recalled the decision of the First Meeting of the Permanent Working Group regarding creation of a sub-working group and holding its meetings to finalize the two important issues related to the formulation of the mechanism/roadmap and finalization of tariff rates between the en-route countries.
The meeting deliberated, inter alia, the ways and means for the formulation of the mechanism/roadmap for commercialization of the KTI corridor and finalization of tariff rates between the en-route countries.
