The coordination meeting of the Ad-hoc Committee on establishment of the ECO Clean Energy Centre (CECECO) was held online on 15 February 2024. The Meeting brought together the representatives of the ECO Secretariat, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as ECO’s key partner in CECECO Project, and Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

While reviewing the current status of CECECO Project and a way forward, the participants highlighted the need for speeding up the progress, particularly in terms of expediting regulatory procedures and fund-raising. ECO Secretariat made detailed comments on the five project proposals, which were presented by UNIDO in January 2024 based on global success stories and for possible replication in the ECO Region. The meeting concluded that certain proposals might be of particular interest to the ECO Member States and become the initial projects, to be potentially implemented by the ECO Clean Energy Center.
