ECO Director for HRSD Dr. Husnu Tekin attended the Regional Expert Group Meeting on Advancing Disaster Resilience and the 8th Session of APDIM Governing Council on 7-8 December, 2023 in Dushanbe.
The Regional Expert Group Meeting, under the theme of “Harnessing Data, Technology and Policy for a Safer Tomorrow,” discussed the outcomes of APDIM’s previous events as well as information management in Asia and the Pacific with specific focus on integrating data, technology, and policy to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of the Asia-Pacific for disasters.
Dr. Husnu Tekin delivered statement on behalf of the ECO Secretariat, stressing the significance of adapting DRM approaches and strategies in ECO Member States. He informed that ECO is exploring to develop a joint mechanism for responding the hazards which appear to hamper and damage not only socioeconomic situation but also the human capital in the region.
Dr. Tekin also attended APDIM Governing Council as an observer on behalf of ECO Secretariat.
