The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Ambassador Khusrav Noziri attended a ceremony, organized on October 23, 2022 in Tehran, to mark the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). On the sidelines of his participation in the event, Ambassador Noziri met with the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Mahdi Safari.
The bilateral interaction reviewed the issues of mutual concerns as well as the prospects of regional cooperation in special consideration of the recommendations made during the Brainstorming Session that was held at the level of ECO Deputies Foreign Ministers on May 23-24, 2022.
The ECO Secretary General acknowledged the notable contribution of the Islamic Republic of Iran in developing and promoting the agenda of the Organization, not only in country’s capacity of being host of the ECO but also as an important founding member of the Organization. Moreover, Ambassador Noziri briefed on the status of preparations with regard to the upcoming meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (COM) scheduled for December 1, 2022.
The Deputy Minister praised Ambassador Noziri for pushing forward the ECO in its efforts to secure inclusive development and greater integration in the region. He re-assured Iran’s unwavering support to facilitate the Organization and its agenda of shared progress and prosperity in the Member States.
