The 17th meeting of the ECO Project Monitoring Group (PMG) was held at the ECO Secretariat on May 31, 2022 and it was chaired by ECO Secretary General H.E. Amb Khusrav Noziri. The representatives of the embassies of ECO member-states accredited in Tehran and the Secretariat’s staff-members took part in the gathering.

The 17th meeting of the ECO Project Monitoring Group (PMG) was held at the ECO Secretariat on May 31, 2022 and it was chaired by ECO Secretary General H.E. Amb Khusrav Noziri. The representatives of the embassies of ECO member-states accredited in Tehran and the Secretariat’s staff-members took part in the gathering.

The meeting discussed the latest state of ongoing projects and fresh project proposals. There was an extensive exchange of views on various project proposals in ECO’s core areas of activities including Trade & Investment, Transport and Communication, Energy, Tourism, Economic Growth and Social Welfare and Environment.

The ECO Secretary General highlighted the key priorities relating to the development, approval and implementation of ECO projects during the year 2022. He stressed the need for equitable projects distribution among the six core areas of ECO’s activity including sustainable international partnership, public-private sector participation and unified project monitoring reporting system.

The Secretariat briefed the PMG about the ongoing ECO projects and conducted deliberations on the ways to improve the quality and efficiency of the project performance. The Chief Accountant of the ECO Secretariat briefed the meeting about the current status of earmarked projects funds.

The Project Monitoring Group agreed on the necessity of timely implementation of projects in close interaction with the member-states and various institutions and structures of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
