Economic Cooperation Organization

The 3rd Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Economic Cooperation Organization Educational Institute (ECOEI) hosted by the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Turkey was held virtually on 12th August 2020.

The 3rd Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Economic Cooperation Organization Educational Institute (ECOEI) hosted by the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Turkey was held virtually on 12th August 2020.
The meeting was attended by the delegations of five ECOEI Member States including the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Kyrgyz Republic. Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the meeting as a non ratifying Member of the ECOEI. The Secretary General of ECO, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour, also attended the meeting as a member of the BoT.

The meeting, under the chairmanship of H.E. Prof. Ziya Selcuk, Minister of National Education of Republic of Turkey, considered and adopted the comprehensive report of the ECOEI’s President for the period 2017-2020. The BoT considered and approved the ECOEI Scale of Assessments as well as Work Program for years 2021 and 2022. The BoT also considered the exigency circumstances and recommended the nomination of incumbent President Prof. Mehmet Akif KIRECCI to ECO Council of Ministers for the post of President of ECOEI for another term of three years.

The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour in his remarks highlighted the importance of cooperation among the ECO Member States in education and research for realization of Organization’s strategic goals as envisaged in the ECO Vision 2025. He called upon the Member States to introduce innovative and pragmatic education policies in order to meet the challenges of the contemporary world. He highlighted the importance of the close cooperation of among major universities in the region and appreciated the joint initiative of ECO Regional Planning Council and ECOEI to convene meeting of the Heads/Deans of top ten universities of the Region in the current year. The ECO Secretary General expressed his hope that the Institute would further strengthen the existing framework of regional integration of ECO and would contribute to realizing its goals across the wide spectrum of fields of regional economy.

Towards the end of the Meeting, the participants appreciated the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Turkey for arranging the meeting in an efficient manner. The delegates also acknowledged the efforts and valuable contributions of the ECO Secretary General and President of ECOEI for successful organizing this important event.
