The workshop jointly was organized by the Survey of Pakistan and Geological Survey of Pakistan in collaboration with Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on 5-7 July, 2022.
Experts from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Pakistan (host), Republic of Türkiye as well as professionals from international organizations and the leading universities throughout the world delivered range of presentations on the theme.
The Meeting was inaugurated by the welcoming remark of Major General Saeed Akhtar, Surveyor General of Pakistan. He stressed out Pakistan’s continues involvement and devotion in enhancing the capacity building of ECO Member States on geospatial infrastructure development. While emphasizing importance of the workshop, Mr.Akhtar conveyed strong hope that ECO region has untapped potential to develop its agriculture sector through application of new technologies including new advancements in SDI. On behalf of ECO Secretariat director for energy, minerals and environment Mr.Rovshan Mirzayev has delivered key note speech. He mentioned that harnessing geospatial technologies for sustainable agriculture is a huge untapped opportunity to improve productivity and realizations in the sector.
