The 10th High-Level Expert Group Meeting on Statistics was virtually chaired by ECO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Jandos Asanov. Representatives from the national statistical agencies of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Turkmenistan attended the meeting.
Ambassador Asanov congratulated Azerbaijan, Iran, and Kazakhstan on their upcoming agricultural censuses, highlighting food security as a strategic priority for ECO. He proposed related events for 2025 and expressed gratitude to the Turkish Statistical Institute for its recent workshop on trade statistics and to Azerbaijan’s Economic Scientific Research Institute for hosting the 3rd ECO Think-Tank Forum in October.
Member States discussed their recent national statistical developments and shared ideas to strengthen cooperation in ECO’s statistical initiatives. The meeting reviewed ongoing projects, the ECO Annual Economic Report 2023, and approved the draft agenda for the 8th Meeting of Heads of National Statistics Offices, scheduled for 2025.
