The 283rd meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) was held on December 26, at the ECO Headquarters.
Chaired by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ambassador Ali Alizade, the meeting discussed and approved various issues on its agenda, including the Budget of the Organization for 2024.
The Council bade a farewell to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ECO and Country’s Ambassador to Iran Mr. Askhat Orazbay, who had also served as the ECO Secretary General from 2004 to 2006. The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri and the members of CPR acknowledged, with thanks, Ambassador Orazbay’s support to ECO’s agenda of regional cooperation during his tenures as Permanent Representative and Secretary General of the Organization. In his final remarks, Ambassador Orazbay thanked the ECO Secretary General and the Member States for their kind cooperation and encouragement throughout his affiliation with the Organization.
Briefly summarizing some major achievements and events in 2023, Ambassador Alizade thanked the Council for their support and work during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Organization. Acknowledging Ambassador Alizade’s able chairmanship of the CPR during 2023, the ECO Secretary General and the members of CPR welcomed Iran as the new Chair of the Organization for 2024, while also expressing wishes for a successful year for the Organization in 2024.
