The 33rdMeeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) organized in hybrid mode to facilitate the preparation of ECO Work Program and Calendar of Events for 2023 was concluded on January 19, 2023. The delegations of the Member States, ECO Specialized Agencies, Regional Institutions and Affiliated Bodies attended the segmental discussions and deliberations as well as plenary and closing sessions of the RPC. The Representative of Turkish Cypriot State also participated in the Plenary Session of the Meeting as ECO Observer.

The delegations of the Member States, ECO Specialized Agencies, Regional Institutions and Affiliated Bodies attended the segmental discussions and deliberations as well as plenary and closing sessions of the RPC. The Representative of Turkish Cypriot State also participated in the Plenary Session of the Meeting as ECO Observer.
The Closing Session of the RPC endorsed and adopted the ECO Work Program and Calendar of Events for 2023 based on the recommendations of nine sectoral committees, including Trade & Investment, Transport & Communication, Energy, Mineral & Environment, Agriculture & Industry, Tourism, Judicial & Parliamentary Cooperation, ECO Advocacy Program for Afghanistan, Human Resource & Sustainable Development, International Relations as well as Economic Research and Statistics.
The Meeting’s Chair and the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Orkhan Zeynalov thanked the Heads and Members of the delegations for their active participation in this important ECO event, believing that the outcomes of our today’s interaction will help us make further advancements towards the accomplishment of our common goals and targets.
In his closing remarks, while thanking and commending the
Sectoral Committees for effectively accomplishing their tasks, the Secretary General noted that the Organization is determinedly pursuing the collective interest of the region. However, he looked forward to an unyielding support of the Member States, in this regard, and for maintaining the momentum of the ECO in the pursuit of its development targets in 2023 and the years to come.
During the event, the ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri held a meeting with the Head of Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the RPC’s Chair Mr. Orkhan Zeynalov. This bilateral interaction was aimed at discussing the prospects and framework of regional cooperation during the Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Organization in 2023.
On the event’s sidelines, the ECO Secretary General also met with the Head of Tajik Delegation Mr. Nurullo Bulbulov, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Transport; Mr. Natig Madatov, Leading Research Fellow of the Economic Scientific Research Institute; and Mr. Durali Guclusoy, Undersecretary of the State Planning Organization of the ECO Observer Turkish Cypriot State to make an exchange of views and ideas on matters and scope of mutual interests.
