At the 3rd National Urban Forum of Azerbaijan, ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Silapberdi Nurberdiyev delivered a statement on the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor as a dynamic link between Asia and Europe. His remarks emphasized the Corridor’s growing role in fostering regional cooperation, economic integration, and sustainable urban development.
The Middle Corridor, spanning Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the South Caucasus, and Türkiye, is gaining significance as a key trade and transit route. He highlighted the need to strengthen its foundation across three main pillars: connectivity, technology, and sustainability.
Ambassador Nurberdiyev further underscored the importance of digital innovation in improving efficiency and coordination along the corridor, as well as the need for green transport initiatives, low-emission infrastructure, and climate-conscious urban planning to ensure that growth along the corridor remains inclusive and environmentally responsible.
The 3rd National Urban Forum of Azerbaijan, held under the theme “Resilient Cities as a Driving Force of Sustainable Development,” brought together government leaders, experts, and international stakeholders to explore integrated approaches to urbanization, connectivity, and regional development.
