The Republic of Azerbaijan hosted the 4th Meeting of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States on September 14-16, 2023. The event, organized in Baku, was attended by the representatives from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as ECO delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Jandos Asanov.
In his message, read out by Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Dr. Kamran Aliyev while inaugurating the meeting as the event’s Chairman, the Honourable President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev emphasized the need of expanded collaboration amongst the ECO countries to jointly address the challenges emanating from cross-border illegitimate activities as well as cyber and other crimes.
Briefing the participants, ECO Deputy Sectary General underscored the significance of judicial cooperation in the region highlighting the Organization’s efforts and progress towards establishing ECO Regional Centre for Cooperation of Anti-corruption Agencies and Ombudsmen (RCCACO).
The participants, inter alia, mulled over an early implementation of the decisions previously made by the forum, exploring ways forward for ensuring maximum operational collaboration amongst member countries with a view to intensifying their fight against any unlawful practices, including human and drug trafficking. Reaffirming commitment to boosting their mutual cooperation, they also shared their national anti-corruption policies, measures and achievements against any sorts of corruption and crimes.
