Tehran – October 15, 2025

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) convened the 4th Meeting of the ECO Tourism and Transport Task Force on 15 October 2025, held virtually with the participation of representatives from seven Member States: Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye. The meeting was also attended by officials from the ECO Secretariat’s Tourism and Transport & Communication Directorates.

The meeting focused on improving regional connectivity in support of tourism flows across and beyond the ECO region. The Secretariat delivered a comprehensive briefing on the current state of transport connectivity, highlighting ongoing challenges, policy gaps, and emerging opportunities to enhance passenger transportation services for tourism purposes.

Delegations shared national updates on infrastructure development, cross-border transport challenges, and sectoral expectations. Participants reaffirmed the importance of multilateral coordination in developing aviation, road, rail, and multimodal transport solutions that facilitate easier, safer, and more sustainable travel across the region.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen cooperation and to develop a framework document to guide future actions, based on the inputs and priorities identified during the discussion. This will be further considered at upcoming high-level meetings, including the next ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism.
