The 4th Session of the ECE-ECO Coordination Committee on the Trans-Caspian and Almaty-Tehran-Istanbul Corridors was held virtually on 11th December, 2023. The session was organized jointly by UNECE and ECO and was attended by the Committee members, including the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Georgia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Türkiye and Republic of Uzbekistan. The Secretariat of the TRACECA also participated in the Meeting.
The participants and the Secretariats of ECO and UNECE updated the Meeting on activities and developments conducted since the last session of the Committee which was held in Baku in July 2023.
Mr. Kashif Zaman, the Deputy Secretary General of ECO also updated the meeting on the activities of the ECO Secretariat with regard to the mandates and goals of the Coordination Committee including organizing the 12th Ministerial Meeting on Transport on 2nd November 2023, organizing the first Meeting of TUTIT (Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye) Multimodal Corridor with participation of China in September 2023 in Dushanbe, as well as organizing the workshop on CTU Codes in Aktau Port. He further reiterated ECO’s full support to the activities of the Coordination Committee in the future.
The latest status of the Unified Railway Law, developments of the TIR/ eTIR and other digitalization projects of relevance for the Trans-Caspian and Almaty-Tehran-Istanbul Corridors as well as agreed deliverables and outputs were put on focus during the Meeting.
