The 5th Meeting of Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 16 May 2024 to discuss the ways of widening cooperation in the field of prosecution and judiciary.
The meeting was hosted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan and attended by Attorneys/Prosecutors General from ECO Member States. The Attorney General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the event as a guest.
The Meeting began with a courtesy call on President Emomali Rahmon, who warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in the field of prosecution and judiciary.
In his welcome address to the participants of the 5th meeting of Prosecutors General of ECO countries H.E. Mr. Yusuf Rahmon, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan informed of the latest developments in the country in the field of prosecution and expressed the wish of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the country to deepen ties with its counterparts in the ECO area.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation and agreed to strengthen their collective efforts in preventing, investigating, and prosecuting trans-boundary offenses. They also discussed the establishment of cooperation framework and the operationalization of the ECO Regional Center fort Cooperation of Anti-Corruption Agencies and Ombudsmen (RCCACO).
The meeting emphasized the importance of judicial cooperation and information exchange in addressing emerging challenges and promoting security and prosperity across the region.
ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri thanked the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan for his warm welcome and professional organization of the event. ECO Secretary General also expressed belief that the Plan of Interaction among the Offices of Attorneys/Prosecutors General that was adopted at the meeting would enrich cooperation in the field of prosecution in the ECO area with new forms and ties.
