Economic Cooperation Organization

In their 9th Interaction on July 2, the ECO Heads of Customs Administration met in Baku. Held under the chairmanship of the Head of State Committee of Azerbaijan Mr. Shahin Bagherev, the hybrid meeting was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. 

In his remarks, ECO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Sayed Mohsen Esperi emphasized that ECO Vision-2025 considers customs as one of the Organization’s most priority areas of cooperation that is pivotal for trade facilitation and expansion as well as shared economic growth in the region.   

The meeting discussed a regional framework for cooperation in customs matters, including information sharing on customs offences for data bank, draft agreement for mutual administrative assistance and capacity building in customs. The meeting, while adopting a Baku Declaration, also endorsed the reports of 5th ECO Committee on Customs Cooperation and the 1st Joint Working Group Meeting (s) on Trade Facilitation.
