The ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri met with the Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training, Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, on the sidelines of the Fourth Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) on August 4, 2023, in Istanbul.

The Secretary General briefed the Minister about the ECO and its activities in priority areas of trade & investment, transport & connecticity, energy, environment, and sustainable development.  He also touched upon untapped potential of the ECO Member States. “Our region can be a successful economic bloc if few impediments are overcome”, said Ambassador Noziri and appreciated Pakistan for hosting the ECO Science Foundation in Islamabad, one of the three Specialized Agencies of the ECO and deputing highly professional staff members at the ECO Secretariat. Moreover, the Secretary General briefed the honourable Minister about some important upcoming ECO events such as the 27th Meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers in Shusha, Azerbaijan in October 2023 and the 16th ECO Summit  in Uzbekistan in November 2023 and expressed expectation of highest-level participation from Pakistan to these events.

The Minister stressed upon increasing importance of vocational and technical education for the economic wellbeing of people. He further opined that the ECO Science Foundation in unison with renowned technical institutes of Pakistan can play monumental role in futhering science education in the country. The Minister seconded the thoughts of the Secretary General regarding true potential of the ECO. He highlighted that ECO countries were knit toghether culturaly, hisorically, and geographically and if few barriers to trade, investment and connectivity  were removed, the ECO would emerge as a model bloc.
