The 4th Meeting of the ECO Working Group on Tourism Standardization (WGTS) was held on 24 October 2023 in virtual mode with the participation of the experts from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The meeting chaired by Ms. Aytan Alizamanli, Director of Industry Development Department of Azerbaijan Tourism Board.
Reviewing the decisions of previous sessions, the meeting discussed the draft Common Criteria on Sustainability for Accommodation Facilities in the ECO Region. The experts shared views on sustainable management principles of the accommodation facilities such as protection of biodiversity and cultural and historical heritage sites, as well as utilization of clean energy, water saving technologies and ensuring accessibility of accommodation facilities.
The meeting agreed to circulate the draft document among ECO Member States for feedback.
Next meeting of the WGTS will be held on 17 January 2024.
