On 23 November 2021, the ECO Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Khusrav Noziri calls on H.E. Dr. Ebrahim Raisi President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This meeting was held prior to 15th ECO Summit Meeting scheduled for 28 November 2021 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The Secretary General briefed the hounorable President on the activities of the Organization and expressed hope that the 15th Summit Meeting would be a success. In this context, he noted the importance of the outcome of the Summit Meetings for the development of future plans for the Organization.
H.E. Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, while referring to the need for identification and removal of barriers hindering fulfillment of ECO objectives underlined the importance of the role which could be played by the Secretariat in this regard through initiation and development of the comprehensive plans.
H.E. Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches importance to the regional cooperation specifically within the framework of ECO. H.E. added that ECO Member States possess capacities and resources which provide suitable ground for a coordinated enhanced cooperation within the framework of ECO in different fields such as Energy, Transit Transport, Trade, Digital Economy, Tourism, Maritime Economy which should be activated and used for the economic prosperity of the region.
The Secretary General, with respect to the need for identification and removal of impediments in the achievement of the ECO regional goals, brought to the attention of H.E. Dr. Raisi that ECO recently conducted a mid-term review of ECO Vision 2025 with the same purpose and the outcome of this exercise is going to be presented to the 25th Meeting of the Council of Ministers scheduled to be held one day before the 15th Summit Meeting.
