The 6th Meeting of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC) Steering Committee was convened by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) from 6 to 8 November 2023 in Vienna. The meeting took place in conjunction with the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF).
ECO Director of Energy, Minerals and Environment Mr. Fuad Farzalibeyov participated at the Steering Committee meeting on behalf of the ECO Secretariat, which currently represents the ECO Clean Energy Centre (CECECO). In his address, he apprised the participants of ECO’s resolve to successfully finalize thepreparatory phase of the joint ECO-UNIDO Project on establishment of CECECO and operationalize the Centre in Baku.This Centre is expected to support the transformation to clean and sustainable energy sources and act as the regional sustainable energy promotion agency in ECO Region.
The meeting discussed the development of joint project proposals on priority issues, while also entailing sessions on specific initiatives and projects. Participants exchanged views on a number of inspiring project proposals, some of which have strong potential of replication in the ECO Region. In this vein, Director Farzalibeyov highlighted the interest in working closely with GN-SEC for sharing best practices and expertise, building on common database and business promotion.
