The ECO Secretary General Mr. Khusrav Noziri received, in his office, the Head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Liaison Office in Tehran, Mr. Hideo Ikeba, on January 12, 2022. The meeting was aimed at discussing the prevailing humanitarian conditions in Afghanistan.
The interaction explored the ways and means to address the current humanitarian crisis in the country jointly by ECO and UNAMA. Moreover, it mulled over the possibility of establishing ECO-UNAMA cooperative relationship to support the overall socio-economic development in Afghanistan.
The ECO Secretary General briefed the visiting UNAMA’s chief on the ECO’s reconstruction and developmental efforts in Afghanistan, especially under the ECO Advocacy Program for Afghanistan (EAPA).
Both sides mutually appeared ready and receptive to make collaborative actions for addressing the needs and requirements of the people of Afghanistan in particular reference to the country’s current situation.
