A forum was organized for sharing experience and practices on development of the tourism sector across the ECO region, on the sidelines of the Shahrisabz ECO Tourism Capital 2024 inauguration ceremony.
In his remarks, ECO Secretary General Ambassador Khusrav Noziri emphasized the vital role of continous cooperation among the ECO Member States in order for the region to increase its global tourism share. Touching upon the cultural, historical and natural beauties of the region, the Secretary General provided information on the ECO Tourism Capital initiative, which supports promotion of such tourism destinations. Ambassador Noziri also noted that ECO Secretariat will keep its focus in the tourism sector through initiatives such as ECO Tour Operators’ Network, ECO Tourism Educational Network and establishment of an ECO Advisory Committee on Tourism.
Mr. Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan and representatives of ECO Member States also shared their views and experience on promoting tourism activities.
