The 262nd Meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR) was held on March 2, 2022 in the city of Bandar Abbas, the Islamic Republic of Iran under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
CPR meeting proceeded by joint meeting of General Governor of Hormozgan Province H.E. Mr. Mahdi Doosti with ECO Permanent Representatives. The General Governor delivered his welcoming remarks underling major achievements and huge potential and opportunities of Hormozgan Province in trade and investments, transport and connectivity and tourism for promoting cooperation with ECO Member States.
Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to ECO H.E. Mr. Bakhodir Abdullayev, the Chairman of the meeting, while extending sincere gratitude to Hormozgan Province authorities emphasised upon the strengthening of cooperation for economic growth and socio-economic development of the region, especially through expansion of transport corridors amongst the ECO Member States.
The ECO Secretary General, H.E. Amb. Khusrav Noziri outlined the great importance of regional connectivity referring to the issue of strengthening multi-modal transport in the “ECO Year of Strengthening Connectivity” as proposed by H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Honourable President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the 15th ECO Summit and approved by the meeting of Council of Ministers (COM).
On March 3, 2022 the ECO Secretary General H.E. Amb. Khusrav Noziri participated at the Conference on cooperation between Hormozgan and ECO Member States hosted by Bandar Abbas Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture and chaired by its President H.E. Mr. Mohammad Reza Safa with participation of the General Governor of Hormozgan Province H.E. Mr. Mahdi Doosti.
The Secretary General in his statement highlighted strategic, economic and commercial significance of Bandar Abbas city for the region as the trade hub in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea.
After the Conference a visit to Shahid Rajaei Port was organised by the General Administration of Port and Maritime Affaires of Hormozgan Province.
The participants familiarized themselves with Shahid Rajaei Port facilities which is considered as the intercontinental route of ships, being located at the intersection of the North-South Transit Corridor and most important gateway for import and export of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The port covers about 2400 hectares and posseses 100 million tons of cargo capacity per year.
