The workshop on “Green Transformation of Industry and SMEs (Türkiye Case)” was virtually organized by the ECO Secretariat, Ministry of Industry and Technology and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB) of Türkiye. The event was attended by delegates of Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Turkmenistan.
Mr. Gurkan Polat, Director of Agriculture and Industry Department at ECO Secretariat, in his opening remarks noted that green transformation of Industry and SMEs aims to reduce the environmental impact of various industries and sectors of society, encouraging a lifestyle that is less harmful to ecosystems. He mentioned green industry is the concept of promoting sustainable consumption and production patterns in the manufacturing of products, which involves both the greening of existing products and the creation of green industries that deliver environmental goods and services.
During the meeting, the host authorities explained about the Türkiye Green Industry Project and Organized Industrial Zones as the successful examples in this field. The meeting further exchanged information on the initiatives and solutions on issues pertaining to green transformation of SMEs and entrepreneurship and discussed prospects of strengthening regional cooperation in this field.
