The Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) stated that member countries accounted for approximately $1.016 trillion in global trade during 2023–2024, representing just 4 to 5 percent of the world total. He emphasized that despite the region’s vast potential, this share has remained largely unchanged over recent decades and remains significantly lower than that of the European Union (60–65%) and ASEAN (30–35%).
