ECO Secretary General Ambassador Asad M. Khan met with H.E. Mr. Ontalap Onalbayev, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador and the new Chairman of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR).
Held at the ECO Secretariat, the meeting focused on ECO’s priorities under Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in 2025, including preparations for significant events such as the 17th ECO Summit and 29th COM meetings as well as the need for comprehensive reforms in the Organization. Further, Ambassador Onalbayev highlighted “transport connectivity” as Kazakhstan chairmanship’s theme for the year. Given the nearing conclusion of the ECO Vision 2025, both sides also discussed potential pathways and strategies for formulating a new vision document for the organization according the mandate given by 28th COM Meeting held in Mashhad on December 3, 2024.
