The 35th meeting of the Regional Planning Council (RPC) of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will begin on February 24, 2025 in Tehran with the participation of delegations from the relevant ministries and agencies of ECO member countries. The RPC, as a key decision-making of the Organization, will discuss and approve the annual work program of ECO.
Announcing this news, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, ECO Secretary General, said: “This meeting will be held from 24 to 27 February at the ECO Secretariat with participation of senior officials from the ECO Member States to plan the activities of ECO for 2025.”
In recent months, the activities of ECO to promote cooperation between countries in various fields have increased significantly. In this regard, this meeting of the RPC will be particularly important to mark 2025 as a milestone year with several important Ministerial Meetings on Trade, Tourism, Finance, Transport, Interior Affairs, and Sustainable Development, as well as the 17th ECO Summit to be held on 3-4 July, 2025, in Azerbaijan. In this connection, the ECO Secretariat reaffirms its deep commitment to pursuing and further expanding regional cooperation among members.
ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization successor to the Regional Cooperation for Development that was established in 1964 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey with the aim of promoting economic and cultural cooperation among member countries. Since 1992, its number of members has increased to 10 countries with the admission of seven new countries including Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
