On 29 July 2025, the ECO Seed Association (ECOSA) held the fourth session of its 2025 virtual meeting series, “Current Status of Seed Sector and Investment Opportunities of ECOSA Member Countries,” featuring a presentation by Kyrgyzstan. The series aims to enhance regional seed sector development and facilitate knowledge-sharing and investment dialogue among ECO Member States.
Opening the session, Mr. Yıldıray Gençer, Chairman of the ECOSA Board of Directors, emphasized the strategic importance of the seed sector and ECOSA’s continued commitment to fostering regional cooperation through regular engagements with Member States.
The session provided a comprehensive presentation by Mr. Abduhakim Islamov on Kyrgyzstan’s Seed Sector, covering the country’s agricultural landscape, legal frameworks, institutional structures, seed production and certification systems, research capacity, and public-private collaboration models.
In Q&A session, participants explored the avenues for bilateral and regional cooperation. The meeting drew more than 90 participants from across the ECO region. The next session, focusing on Uzbekistan’s seed sector, is expected to be held in August 2025.
