The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) will be held in the Turkmen resort town of Awaza, on August 5-8, 2025, bringing together Heads of State/Government, Ministers, Heads of International Organizations and senior officials from around the world.
During its 5-day program, the Conference will seek to find ways to overcome difficulties and challenges faced by the landlocked countries in realizing their full development potential. In this regard, the Conference will feature several high-level political, economic, cultural and humanitarian events focusing on broader development issues impacting LLDCs.
The ECO delegation headed by the Secretary General Dr. Asad M. Khan will participate in the Conference where ECO will organize a side event under the theme: “ECO and Implementing the Awaza Program of Action”. As an international organization with 7 landlocked member states, ECO will actively advocate for the problems landlocked countries are facing, while also sharing its insights, experiences and best practices with the international community. The ECO side event will further showcase the Organization’s perspective in implementing the Awaza Program of Action, which aligns well with the priorities of ECO in developing physical connectivity of the region, as well as integrating regional trade, energy, tourism, agriculture and industry sectors.
