On October 3, 2022, ECO Secretariat coordinated the 4th Consultation Meeting among the Heads of ECO Specialized in video conference format.
ECO Secretariat was represented by H.E. Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Bؤ±çaklؤ±, Deputy Secretary General (Energy, Minerals and Environment & International Relations & Administration & Informative Technologies) and Mr. Alim Ullah, Head of Section International Relations.
Prof. M. Akif Kireçci and Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi represented the ECO Educational Institute and ECO Science Foundation respectively. ECO Cultural Institute in Tehran could not attend the meeting on account of certain technical issues.
While welcoming the participants of the meeting, Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Bؤ±çaklؤ± highlighted the importance of the ECO Specialised Agencies and regular contacts among them. He further highlighted that the 4th Consultation Meeting is the manifestation of the fulfillment of the recommendation of the 32nd Meeting of the RPC, which asked for regular contacts among ECO Specialised Agencies to boost cooperation among them. He further noted that the main object of this meeting was to shed light on the role of Education, Science and Culture in making ECO Region interconnected and to enhance linkages among ECO Specialized Agencies.
ECO Deputy Secretary General also extended felicitations to Dr. Syed Komail Tayebi for assuming Presidency of the ECOSF and hoped that his Presidency of would usher in an era of progressive developments in the field of science and technology.
Prof. Akif Kireçci, the President of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) in Ankara, while chairing the meeting, presented a detailed overview of the activities undertaken by the Institute. He further noted that the Institute was in process of accumulating information on educational problems faced by ECO Member States. The events that ECOEI will organize in future also came under limelight.
The President of the ECO-Science Foundation (ECOSF), Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, mentioned that the Foundation is in process to enhance the sphere of cooperative relationship with various regional and international institututes of its kind. Moreover, in order to make Science Foundation more vibrant and more dynamic, he hoped to put efforts for the expansion of the membership of the ECOSF.
