On 9 October 2025, the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), H.E. Dr. Asad Khan, met with Mr. Farrukh Toirov, Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the ECO Secretariat to discuss enhanced collaboration in food security and agricultural development.
Acknowledging that food security and agricultural development remain priority areas for ECO, which is closely aligned with FAO’s core mandate, both sides agreed to pursue enhanced inter-organizational cooperation through strengthened networking and coordination, leveraging FAO’s technical expertise and its broad presence across ECO Member States, by drawing on mutual experiences, best practices, and lessons learned to advance sustainable agriculture in areas of common interest.
