The Secretary General of ECO, H.E Khusrav Noziri participated in the Ministerial Meeting on Transit Cooperation among Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan” that was organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran on 09 October 2022 in Tehran.
The Secretary General in his statement underlined the collective and regional cooperation for strengthening integrated regional markets and supply chains and promoting transport and digital connectivity. He also briefed the session on the projects and policies of the Organization for promotion of transport connectivity through construction of missing links and implementation of various initiatives for digitalization of transit procedures.
Ambassador Khusrav Noziri referring to the “ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (TTFA) described it as the main regional legal instrument that covers almost all components of transport and regulates the cooperation of the Member States through its Coordination Council and the technical committees.
He also drew the attention of the participants to the two major studies titled “ECO Railway Network Development Plan” and “ECO Road Network Development Plan” that have identified all regional connections as well as missing links in the ECO region with estimation of investment needs. And invited the international financial and aid institutions as well as banks to consider them for possible investment and development assistance.
He further outlined the study projects, conducted by the ECO Secretariat, to sort out the opportunities, challenges and bottlenecks of connectivity in the region that have provided a pool of knowledge and bankable data for the international community.
The Ministerial Meeting on Transit Cooperation among Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan that was organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran on 08- 09 October 2022. The delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation also joined the Meeting in the Meeting in the 2nd Day.
